I Became Popular, I Kid You Not

it was another day at VBS. for those of you who know me, i’m not into kids. its not that i don’t like kids, i just have to work really hard to relate to them so most of the time i don’t bother. but the fact that i’m not into kids, doesn’t mean kids aren’t into me. well… i won’t go that far. but today, the kids seemed to want to interact with me besides singing to my guitar playing. a young girl saw me taking pictures and wanted me to take a picture of her with a few friends. then a few friends became a bunch of friends. a bunch turned into a group. then a lady wanted me to take a picture of her and her family which drew the group of friends over who wanted to be in the same shot. thankfully, Sonia called for VBS to close with prayer which settled the growing number of camera loving kids.

after VBS was over, we were invited to visit another church several blocks away in the same neighborhood. so we took the bumpy ride up the mountain. the church was only partially completed and needed two more cinder-blocked walls. the existing walls were made up of this woven material like thatch. in this church the young people run the service from sabbath school to preaching. before we left the kids sang us a song a prayed for us. and here we thought the prayers were for them. this was another humbling experience.
